The Flow Forming Process

• Flow forming begins with a cast wheel clamped to a heated mandrel while hydraulic rollers apply precisely metered pressure along the barrel. As the barrel is progressively elongated and formed to its target width, the aluminum’s grain structure is compacted and aligned, producing a lighter, stronger barrel with performance approaching that of a fully forged wheel.
